Israeli musician Liron Shnaider was successfully defended at Isleworth Crown Court by Jonathan Goldberg Q.C.
Charged originally with causing death by dangerous driving after he drove on the wrong side of a sliproad off the M40 Motorway and killed a motorcycle policeman coming in the opposite direction, Shnaider was acquitted by the jury, and was sentenced to a suspended prison term of 20 weeks with unpaid community work for the lesser charge of causing death by careless driving to which he had pleaded guilty. It was brought out at trial that he was a stranger to the road, who had been misled by worn and unlit road markings, and a misleading command received from his GPS system moments before the impact.
Jonathan was instructed by David Sonn of Sonn MacMillan Walker Solicitors.
