Experience & Expertise

Nick’s practice focuses on commercial law, employment law, public law, and personal injury.

Prior to coming to the bar he worked at Harbour Litigation Funding, one of the largest investors in commercial litigation and arbitration in the world. He also acted as a legal researcher on the jurisdictional phase of an ICC arbitration under a joint venture contract in relation to the refusal of a mining licence.

Nick undertakes a significant amount of pro-bono work and presently acts as a legal advisor at the Waterloo Legal Advice Centre, a weekly drop in legal advice clinic for residents of Southwark.

Current & Recent Work

Commercial & Chancery

Nick’s practice covers a broad range of commercial disputes, including contractual disputes, claims for unpaid debts, and claims involving consumer credit issues. He has recently advised in a claim involving undisclosed broker commissions on secured loans.

Employment Law

Nick gained experience of dealing with employment matters whilst he was a third six pupil, and has previously acted in claims in the Employment Tribunal through the Free Representation Unit.

Public Law

Nick is currently instructed by one of the core participants in the Undercover Policing Inquiry. The Inquiry is concerned with whether, and to what extent and effect, undercover police operations have targeted political and social justice campaigners.

Personal Injury & Clinical Negligence

Nick’s acts for and advises both Claimants and Defendants in claims involving clinical negligence, employers’ liability, public liability, and road traffic accidents. He has recently advised on a case involving alleged clinical negligence resulting in a stillbirth.

He is also regularly instructed by the Treasury Solicitor as a ‘Junior Junior’. He has been involved with large group actions such as the Mau Mau Litigation and the Lariam Compensation Claims, as well as claims by individual members of the armed forces against the Ministry of Defence.
