Experience & Expertise

Amy’s practice encompasses employment, property and commercial and trusts work.

On employment matters she has appeared in tribunals, courts, the Employment Appeal Tribunal, the High Court and the Court of Appeal acting in matters ranging from cross-border service provision changes, equal pay and discrimination to restraint of trade and insolvency disputes. She has acted in a number of multi-party trade union and TUPE disputes.  Recent clients include multi-nationals facing complex discrimination claims, a national newspaper as well as local government and the transport and charity sectors.

Her commercial experience includes advice on restrictive covenants, directors’ disputes and unfair prejudice litigation, diverse trusts work and agency disputes.  Her property practice covers all aspects of commercial and residential property work with appearances in the High Court and county courts. She has considerable expertise in boundary and easement disputes, nuisance, disrepair and breach of covenant, forfeiture, residential possession proceedings, business tenancy proceedings and lease extensions. She has also advised in a number of proceedings against negligent surveyors and was recently instructed in judicial review proceedings arising out of an application under s.122, Housing Act 1985.

Amy was called to the Gibraltar Bar in 2007 and has advised and acted in that jurisdiction in-house with international firm Hassans, specialising in commercial litigation, property, international trusts and public law. During that time and subsequently she has advised and acted in a number of high-value contractual and property disputes and has been involved in judicial review proceedings and tracing claims. Amy lectures widely on employment and property issues. She is also a qualified mediator.

Amy worked in the securitisation department of the London branch of Shearman & Sterling before coming to the Bar.
