Experience & Expertise

Simon has been a member of Ely Place Chambers since 2002 and he has extensive advocacy experience. His experience spans across all Tribunals and he presents his advice in a robust, clear and concise manner whatever the complexity of the matter. Simon took several years out of practice to be involved with all aspects of the management of this business. Accordingly, Simon is in a unique group at the Bar in that he has first hand perspective of what the commercial Client needs when becoming involved in litigation.


Simon is recommended as ferociously hard-working and a strong advocate. He has considerable trial experience, both as sole and junior counsel. He has advised on and acted in a wide variety of commercial and contractual disputes in the High Court in areas including professional negligence, breach of contractual obligations, share sale and purchase agreements, shareholder disputes, partnership disputes and Directors’ liabilities. He frequently appears in the Companies Court and acting for administrators and liquidators when seeking to recover sums from Directors and third parties.

Simon has extensive experience on obtaining and opposing worldwide freezing injunctions, injunctions for breach of confidentiality, search orders.


Simon has an advisory and court based practice acting for both Claimants and Defendants. Simon is highly experienced in High Court work in relation to emergency injunctions relating to theft of confidential information and breach of restrictive covenants.


Simon has advised on and conducted numerous hearings for governmental bodies and acted on behalf of Football Clubs and high profile media and sports personalities. He has advised and acted for a number of sporting organisations in commercial claims, disciplinary and doping hearings, footballers’ and agents’ contracts and transfer fees, sports’ sponsorship cases. He also advises on the interpretation of and possible challenges to sports bodies’ rules.

Simon has developed a niche and fast growing practice, particularly in relation to brand and image protection, passing off including web-based disputes.

Advised on claim by liquidator for recovery against Director who transferred substantial sums out of the Company prior to liquidation.

Acted for an administrator seeking to recover sums paid out by Directors to lawyers from Company funds.

Acted on and advised in relation to a failed purchase from BAA of multi-million dollar valued assets

Acted on and advised for shareholders of Premier League Football Club in a dispute over repayment of loans

Acted on and advised a Local Authority in the TCC on a multi-million sale of software dispute against leading International Software Company.

Acted for and advised in relation to a multi-million pound dental practice in relation to a partnership dispute and theft of data.

Acted for and advised in relation to leading private medical establishment in relation to breach of confidentiality and theft of data

Acted and advised individual investor in relation to a multi-million pound commercial property dispute.

Acted for major international brewer in litigation arising out of commercial agreements regarding sale of products.

Acting for and against professionals in all fields for breach of contract and or negligence.


Simon regularly appears to defend claims against the Metropolitan Police

Acted for leading multinational telecommunications company in a 3-week trial for Unfair Dismissal and Discrimination claim where the Respondent was awarded its costs.

Acted for worlds leading media group in various unfair dismissal and discrimination claims arising from redundancy

Acted for UK largest chain of Public Houses in claims brought by employees.


Acted for French Football club against a English Premier league team in the High Court for failure to make payments in relation to transfer of a player.

Acted for UK Sport funding organisation advising and representing on regulatory matters and doping policies that directly affected funding.

Intellectual Property

Simon has recently advised a large multi-national in relation to the registration of a domain name that was challenged from a Company trading in Poland with a similar name.
